2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 124 BY SENATOR LAMBERT A RESOLUTION To commend Tim Detillier, head football coach and athletic director for the Lutcher High School Bulldogs, upon his many career accomplishments and to congratulate him on his 2015 winning season and upon his retirement. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the achievements of Coach Tim Detillier, perhaps the most prolific coach in the history of River Parishes football; and WHEREAS, on December 12, 2015, Coach Detillier and the LHS Bulldogs finished the season (9-1) overall with a superlative win over the St. James High School Wildcats (41- 14) and confirmed their ranking as Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3-A State Champions; and WHEREAS, Coach Detillier concluded his career with an extraordinary record of 266-112-0, that ranked him thirteenth in the Louisiana football all-time wins list surpassing the longstanding statistics of Coach Joe Keller of Reserve High School; and WHEREAS, Tim Detillier is a proud alumnus of LHS, a three-sport letterman in baseball, basketball, and football, and a former quarterback for the team he would later coach; he fondly remembers his high school mentor-coaches: Frank Monica, Jack Andre, Lou St. Amant, and David Richard; and WHEREAS, after graduation in 1973, he obtained a degree in physical education with a complement in athletic instruction from Louisiana State University in 1977; and WHEREAS, during his thirty-eight years in coaching, Detillier spent six seasons at St. Charles Catholic High in LaPlace, and his tenure at LHS included seven years as assistant coach and twenty-five years as head coach; and WHEREAS, LHS proudly holds six state titles; those acquired in 1978 and 1983 while Tim Detillier was an assistant coach, and his tally of four state championships as head coach occurred in 2003, 2006, 2008, and 2015, quite a remarkable record; and Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 124 ENROLLED WHEREAS, for over three decades he has been a proactive force in statewide associations with involvement as a two-term executive board member and school relations committee member for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA), president of the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA), president and executive board member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Directors Association (LHSADA), and executive director of the Louisiana Football Coaches Association; and WHEREAS, Tim Detillier is more than a football coach who sharpens the skills of young athletes, he is also mentor, father figure, and advisor to many young men who strive to pursue success in the world of high school, collegiate, and professional sports; and WHEREAS, LHS is known to produce the most talented defensive backs of any state high school; these athletes have become noteworthy sports alumni; many of these players were schooled by Coach Detillier and he has helped to cultivate new careers in the ranks of college and professional football and some of his former students have become innovative coaches and athletic directors in their own right; and WHEREAS, Coach Tim Detillier has assembled a superb coaching staff that includes Cory Bourgeois, Kim LaCombe, Craig Zeringue, Troy Johnson, Troy Borne, Mickey St. Pierre, Chad Carter, Brad Smith, Thomas Bourgeois, Davey Clement, Scott Giardina, Robbie Ocmand, Kyle Latiolais, Terrance Jones, Dave Giardina, and Matt Dornier, who shall "take the reins" and continue to promote and improve the LHS football program; and WHEREAS, Coach Tim Detillier shall embrace retirement in the same manner as spring training, with much anticipation and excitement; he shall always follow high school athletics with great intensity and count his many blessings in life; and WHEREAS, Tim and his wife Wanda are blessed with two daughters; Tara and Taylor, one son; Travis, two grandchildren; Nate and Luke Babin, and another grandchild is expected later this year; and WHEREAS, he takes part in Knights of Columbus service activities, and Tim and Wanda are active members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he acts as a lector during mass; and WHEREAS, Coach Detillier has proven himself to be a leader of the highest caliber, a catalyst who motivates young athletes to work together, to exceed personal expectations, Page 2 of 3 SR NO. 124 ENROLLED to attempt seemingly unattainable goals, to demonstrate an exceptional competitive nature and esprit de corps, and to perform as a team made of many cohesive parts; and WHEREAS, Coach Tim Detillier shall remain an endearing figure in Lutcher High School sports, his community, and his state for many years to come. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Head Coach Tim Detillier of the Lutcher High School football team on its 2015 Class 3-A LHSAA State Championship and does hereby congratulate him upon his well-deserved retirement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby wish Coach Detillier every success in all his future endeavors.
