2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126 BY SENATOR PERRY A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Kevin G. Guidry. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana learned of the death of Kevin G. Guidry on May 5, 2016, at the age of fifty-two; and WHEREAS, he was serving his third term as a city councilman representing District D in Kaplan, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Guidry began his first term under former mayor, Linda Hardee, and served subsequent terms under current mayor, Kirk Champagne; and WHEREAS, he is survived by his loving wife of thirty-four years, Melissa Guidry; one son, Casey Guidry; two grandchildren, Mason and Audrey Guidry; two sisters, Gail Stelly and June Guidry; and one brother, David Guidry; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Audrey Doucet Guidry; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like Kevin G. Guidry; and WHEREAS, with his passing, Louisiana has lost one of its finest sons, a quintessential southern gentleman who loved his community and whose accomplishments have left an indelible mark upon his community, state, and nation; and WHEREAS, the death of Kevin G. Guidry has left a substantial void in the Kaplan community and a sense of loss in the citizens whose lives he touched, and his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all those who knew and loved this extraordinary man and public servant. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 126 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Kevin G. Guidry, records for posterity his outstanding achievements, and extends enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he will forever bring to the Kaplan community, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America.
