BOUDREAUX, BROWN, CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR,
COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI,
HEWITT, JOHNS, LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU,
MARTINY, MILKOVICH, MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH,
PEACOCK, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH,
TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Jack Lindsey upon his death.
WHEREAS, Jack Lindsey was a native of Ruston and graduated in May 2014 from
Ruston High School where he played football so well for four years as a defensive back that
his coach Brad Laird was impressed by his hard work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Jack would ultimately receive letters in both football and golf, still
finding time to be active in the National Honor Society, the Key Club, the Interact Club, the
Spanish Club, and as a Bearcat Mentor; and
WHEREAS, Jack was an active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and
used his exceptional talents with a guitar to play at church, Vacation Bible School, the Poor
Man's Supper, and the John Simoneaux Memorial Jam; and
WHEREAS, Jack had a well known passion for flying and pursued his private pilot's
license, paying for his lessons by working two jobs; and
WHEREAS, Jack would realize his long held dream of service to his country as a
U.S. Air Force pilot in 2014, when he received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and
WHEREAS, in his first year at the Air Force Academy, Jack impressed his fellow
cadets with his on-field talent in intramural sports such as flag football and ultimate Frisbee;
and
WHEREAS, Jack was only eighteen years old and in his first year as a cadet when
he and thousands of other cadets, airmen, retirees, and family members of service personnel
descended upon a Summit County resort for the annual weekend holiday called SnoFest at
the Keystone Resort; and

WHEREAS, the weekend of fun and celebration for SnoFest took a tragic turn when
Jack was involved in a skiing accident on Elk Run, an intermediate slope that was heavily
lined with trees; and
WHEREAS, Jack was known as an avid skier who was highly responsible and was
wearing a protective helmet when he crashed on January 24, 2015, sliding into one of the
many trees lining the slope and ultimately losing his struggle for life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of U.S. Air
Force Academy Cadet Jack Lindsey for their immeasurable loss and recognizes his
dedication and love for his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Jack Lindsey.
