2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 66 BY SENATORS JOHNS, ALARIO, ALLAIN, APPEL, BARROW, BISHOP, BOUDREAUX, BROWN, CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HEWITT, LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH, MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE A RESOLUTION To designate Monday, April 18, 2016, as Lineman Appreciation Day at the State Capitol. WHEREAS, utility linemen put their lives on the line each day to help provide electric service to the homes of all the residents of Louisiana, building and maintaining the very infrastructure that keeps our everyday life powered, climbing to perilous heights and troubleshooting complex electrical circuits to ensure that those below are kept out of the dark; and WHEREAS, utility linemen are the backbone and most visible faces of utility companies, interacting with the public in good times and bad, traveling to locations unknown, wearing heavy gear and battling all manner of environmental conditions; and WHEREAS, utility linemen perform their duties at all times and in all situations, entering the eye of the storm when all others are fleeing, working as many as sixteen hours at a time during emergencies and bad weather conditions, leaving families at home when called in the night, packing their bags at a moment's notice to provide assistance to other regions of the state or lend help to sister utilities in other states; and WHEREAS, utility linemen are the true heroes of the utility world, fending off the darkness with the light they provide. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Monday, April 18, 2016, as Lineman Appreciation Day at the State Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 66 ENROLLED Capitol and does hereby express appreciation and support for the fine public service work the Louisiana linemen perform every day, keeping the lights on for millions.
