2016 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 81 BY SENATOR ERDEY A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Keep Louisiana Beautiful on its exemplary efforts to build and sustain vibrant, clean communities throughout Louisiana through education, volunteerism, and enforcement. WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful is the state's leading nonprofit that brings over 28,000 people together through an affiliate volunteer workforce to build and sustain vibrant, clean communities; and WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana spends over $40 million on litter abatement each year; and WHEREAS, since 2004, Keep Louisiana Beautiful has issued $2.7 million in grants to local communities for anti-litter programs and cleanups, resulting in the fact that every $1 invested in Keep Louisiana Beautiful culminates in $34 in services and donations delivered to these communities; and WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful educates and empowers future generations of environmental stewards, providing tools and resources to guide understanding and actions to reduce litter, increase recycling, and protect the natural areas of Louisiana, ensuring its beauty is everlasting; and WHEREAS, Keep Louisiana Beautiful collaborates with city and parish governments as well as numerous state agencies which help carry out the shared mission to promote personal, corporate and community responsibility for a clean and beautiful Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Governor John Bel Edwards officially declared April 21, 2016, as Keep Louisiana Beautiful Day.
