HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 3
BY REPRESENTATIVE PRICE
A RESOLUTION
To commend Tamiko Terraz Stroud of Donaldsonville for her outstanding accomplishments.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize Tamiko Terraz Stroud, one of Louisiana's
finest young citizens; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Ms. Stroud was a distinguished honor graduate of
Donaldsonville High School, where she was the salutatorian of her class, and a dean's honor
scholar graduate of River Parishes Community College, where she earned an associate of
arts degree in humanities; and
WHEREAS, while attending both high school and community college, Ms. Stroud,
a young woman of many gifts and talents, excelled not only academically but also served as
the co-captain of her high school's dance team and a member of the track team, the concert
band, the National Honor Society, the National Beta Club, the choir, and Interact; and
WHEREAS, in addition to her many high school activities and achievements, Ms.
Stroud has been a leader in her community, serving as the three-term president of the
Donaldsonville Mayor's Youth Advisory Council, the vice president of the Louisiana
Legislative Youth Advisory Council, a charter member and the secretary of the Young
Voices of Ascension Gavel Club, a charter member of the Greater Baton Rouge Chapter of
the National Congress of Black Women, and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic
Church; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Stroud was awarded a Bayou Classic Scholarship by the Louisiana
Legislative Black Caucus in 2016, and she served with distinction as a legislative page in
2016 and 2017; and

WHEREAS, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus named Ms. Stroud a 2017
High School Woman of Excellence, and she has been the Donaldsonville Area Chamber of
Commerce Teenager of the Year, the Donaldsonville High School Student of the Year, a
ZULU Social Aid and Pleasure Club Maid, and the Donaldsonville Sunshine Festival's Miss
Sunshine; and
WHEREAS, in July of 2017, the Baton Rouge Delta Development Corporation is
presenting Ms. Stroud as its Second Princess at its fifty-second annual Debutante Grand
Cotillion; and
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon young people like
Tamiko Terraz Stroud; and
WHEREAS, Tamiko Terraz Stroud merits a special measure of commendation for
the tremendous pride and honor that she brings to her family, friends, community, and state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Tamiko Terraz Stroud of Donaldsonville for
her outstanding accomplishments and does hereby extend to her best wishes for continued
success in her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Tamiko Terraz Stroud.
