1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 11:710(A)(8) and to enact R.S. 11:710(A)(5)(d) and (9), relative
3 to the reemployment of retired members of the Teachers' Retirement System of
4 Louisiana in school nurse positions covered by the system; to authorize the
5 reemployment of retirees as school nurses; to provide relative to earnings restrictions
6 on such reemployment; and to provide for related matters.
7 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published
8 as provided by Article X, Section 29(C) of the Constitution
9 of Louisiana.
10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
11 Section 1. R.S. 11:710(A)(8) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S.
12 11:710(A)(5)(d) and (9) are hereby enacted to read as follows:
13 ยง710. Employment of retirees
14 A. Definitions. As used in this Section, the following words and phrases
15 shall have the following meanings, unless a different meaning is clearly required by
16 the context:

18 (5) "Reemployment-eligible position" means any of the following:

20 (d) A position for a school nurse.

22 (8) "School nurse" means the position provided for in R.S. 17:28.

1 (9) "Substitute classroom teacher" means any classroom teacher employed
2 in a temporary capacity to fill the position of another classroom teacher who is
3 unavailable to teach or to proctor tests for any reason.

5 Section 2. The cost of this Act, if any, shall be funded with additional employer
6 contributions in compliance with Article X, Section 29(F) of the Constitution of Louisiana.
7 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2017; if vetoed by the governor
8 and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
9 2017, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
