HOUSE BILL NO. 73

1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 13:5807.2(C), relative to the collection and use of fees by the
3 marshal of the city of Hammond; to provide for an increase in the maximum use of
4 fees for operational expenses of the office; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 13:5807.2(C) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง5807.2.  Fees and costs; Hammond city marshal

9	C.  Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, but in accordance
10 therewith, the marshal of the city of Hammond shall be entitled to a minimum fee
11 of office of ten dollars for each service described in Subsection A of this Section.
12 The marshal is entitled to use up to fifteen thousand five hundred dollars annually
13 of the fees of office to defray operational expenses of the office and as may be useful
14 and necessary for the proper conduct of the office of the marshal.  In addition to the
15 minimum salary provided in R.S. 13:1883(A)(5), the marshal of the city of
16 Hammond is authorized to use up to thirty-nine thousand five hundred eighty-six
17 dollars of the fees collected annually pursuant to provisions of this Section to
18 supplement his salary and benefits.  The total compensation and benefits paid to the
19 marshal of the city of Hammond shall not exceed one hundred eleven thousand five
20 hundred eighty-five dollars annually.  The remainder of the fees and commissions
21 collected shall be used to defray operational expenses of the office as may be useful
22 and necessary for the proper conduct of the office of the marshal.

1 Section 2.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If
4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
5 effective on the day following such approval.
