HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 110

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Logansport High School football team on winning the 2016 Class 1A state
championship.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Logansport High School football team
on winning the 2016 Class 1A football state championship; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers of the Logansport High School football team completed a
remarkable undefeated season by earning the title of 2016 Class 1A state champions after
overcoming a twenty-two point fourth quarter deficit with twenty-eight unanswered points
in the final ten minutes and thirty-nine seconds of the game to secure a thirty-four to twenty-
eight win over seventeen-time state champion, Haynesville High School Golden Tornadoes;
and
WHEREAS, this thrilling come from behind victory marked the second Class 1A
state football championship for the school and the cumulation of a truly unforgettable season
in which the Tigers outscored their opponents by an average of twenty-nine points per game;
and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the 2016 regular season and playoffs, and each of these talented Tigers deserves
recognition for his vital contributions to the winning effort: Tresmin Brown, Alex Calendar,
Joe Caraway, Felix Coleman, Debell Crawford, Josh Darden, Trevion Daughtry, Gauge
Deason, Austin Edgar, Terry Ford, Devin Gabriel, Lacadrian Gant, Demicko Gray, Holden
Honaker, Roderick Horton, Jerrius Jackson, Madrid Johnson, Riley Jones, Michael Jordan,
Michael Lilly, Brannon Lormand, Denver Martin, Carlton McCoy, Letreveon McKeever,
Patrick Mims, Dakota Moody, Nigel Moore, Langston Murray, Torel Norris, Nakendric

Peterson, Dale Register, Dalton Shaw, Jace Shoalmire, Javier Simpson, Xavier Simpson,
Jakorey Smith, John Stephens, Zachary Thigpen, Lekadrian Turner, Jason Urbina, Dayton
West, Caleb Wheless, Danny White, Desvin Williams, Braylen Wilson, Matt Woods,
Ledreylan Young, and Curtis Zeigler; and
WHEREAS, the team's amazing feats could not have been achieved without the
unwavering dedication, support, and guidance of head coach, Kevin Magee, and his
coaching staff: Kyle Creech, Donald Mayweather, Jentrell Oliver, Reagan Smith, Garland
Spivey, Stephen Stroud, and Jared Timmons; as well as the passion of the many Tiger
supporters who contributed to the success of the school's football program; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers extraordinary season led to a number of players being
selected by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association as Class 1A all-state players, with
Debell Crawford, Langston Murray, Nakendric Peterson, Dalton Shaw, and Braylen Wilson,
receiving first-team selections; John Stephens, Jr., receiving a second-team selection;
Langston Murray being selected first-team all-state as both an offensive and defensive
lineman, Debell Crawford named Class 1A all-state Offensive Most Valuable Player, and
head coach Kevin Magee named Class 1A Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2016 season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Tigers, and all alumni and fans recognize the tremendous honor, pride, and joy that the team
brings to the Logansport High School, DeSoto Parish, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Logansport High School football team
on winning the 2016 Class 1A state championship; does hereby record for posterity this
exceptional team's triumph in the great sport of football; and does hereby extend best wishes
to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine football program as they
celebrate their championship season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Head Coach Kevin Magee.
