HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 127

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Parkview Baptist High School girls' basketball team upon winning the
2017 Division II State Championship.
WHEREAS, the Parkview Baptist High School Lady Eagles basketball team
completed a phenomenal season by earning the title of 2017 Division II state champions
after securing a sixty-nine to forty-nine victory over the University Laboratory High School
Lady Cubs; and
WHEREAS, this thrilling victory marks the first Division II state basketball
championship for the Lady Eagles and erases the bitter taste of a state runner-up finish in the
2016 state championship game; and
WHEREAS, the members of the team performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the 2016-2017 regular season and playoffs, amassing a record of twenty-nine
wins and four losses; and
WHEREAS, the team's amazing feats could not have been achieved without the
unwavering dedication, support, and guidance of head coach Christina Lockett Anderson and
her coaching staff, as well as the passion of the many supporters of the Lady Eagles, who
contributed to the success of the school's basketball program; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Eagles' extraordinary season led to a number of accolades for
the players, including Skyler Goodwin receiving a first-team selection to the 2016-2017 All-
USA Louisiana girls' basketball team from USA Today, a first-team selection to the 2017
Class 3A All-State girls' basketball team as well as being selected Outstanding Player for the
Class 3A All-State girls' basketball team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, and
a first-team selection to the 2017 All-District 6-3A girls' basketball team, as well as being
selected Most Valuable Player for the 2017 All-District 6-3A girls' basketball team; and

WHEREAS, the accolades did not stop there as Leah Collins and Megan Hatch
received honorable mention selections to the 2017 Class 3A All-State girls' basketball team
and Megan Hatch was also named to the 2017 All-District 6-3A girls' basketball team, with
coach Christina Lockett Anderson being selected Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Parkview Baptist High School girls'
basketball team upon winning the 2017 Division II State Championship; and
WHEREAS, all alumni and fans recognize the tremendous honor, pride, and joy that
the team brings to Parkview Baptist High School, East Baton Rouge Parish, and the state of
Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate the Parkview Baptist High
School girls' basketball team upon winning the 2017 Division II State Championship; does
hereby record for posterity this exceptional team's triumph in the great sport of basketball;
and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this
fine basketball program as they celebrate their championship season and prepare for
continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Parkview Baptist High School head coach, Christina Lockett Anderson.
