(gov sig) 1 AN ACT 2 To enact R.S. 17:10.1(G), relative to the school and district accountability system; to require 3 the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to adopt a policy to award 4 additional points to the school performance score of a school that offers a certified 5 foreign language immersion program; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 17:10.1(G) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง10.1. School and district accountability system; purpose; responsibilities of state 9 board 10 * * * 11 (G) The State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education shall 12 develop and adopt a policy to annually award five additional points to the school 13 performance score of a school that offers a foreign language immersion 14 program that is certified pursuant to R.S. 17:273.2. 15 Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 16 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 17 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. Present law requires BESE to develop and implement a process to certify foreign language immersion programs. Proposed law retains present law and additionally requires BESE to annually award five additional points to the school performance score of a school that offers a certified foreign language immersion program.
