SENATE BILL NO. 5
BY SENATOR LUNEAU 
SPECIAL DISTRICTS.  Provides relative to per diem for the Rapides Parish Sewerage
District No. 2. (8/1/17)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:3887.5, relative to Sewerage District No. 2 of Rapides Parish;
3 to authorize a per diem for members of the board of supervisors; and to provide for
4 related matters.
5	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 33:3887.5 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง3887.5.  Rapides Parish Sewerage District Districts No. 1 and No. 2; supervising
9	board; per diem
10	Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 33:3887, 3887.1, or any other law to
11 the contrary, the parish governing authority of Rapides Parish may pay to each
12 member of the board of supervisors of Sewerage District Districts No. 1 and No. 2
13 a per diem not to exceed one hundred fifty dollars for each day of attendance at
14 meetings of the board up to and including twenty-four days in each year.  The
15 governing authority of Rapides Parish may also pay each member a per diem for
16 attendance of up to and including twelve emergency meetings of the board of
17 supervisors called in any one calendar year.  Per diem provided by this Section shall

1 be paid out of the designated funds in the hands of the treasurer.

Present law authorizes the governing authority of Rapides Parish to pay a per diem to each
member of the board of supervisors of Sewerage District No. 1 an amount not to exceed
$150 for each day of attendance at the meeting of the board up to and including 24 days each
year.  Further, present law authorizes a per diem payment for up to 12 emergency meetings
each year.
Proposed law retains present law and adds authorization for the governing authority of
Rapides Parish to pay the identical per diem to each member of the board of supervisors of
Sewerage District No. 2.
Effective August 1, 2017.
