SB 60 Reengrossed 2017 Regular Session Walsworth
Designates a portion of US 425 in Franklin Parish as the "Trooper Bobby Smith 'Vision of
Courage' Memorial Highway", notwithstanding any other law to the contrary.
Designates a portion of US 165 in Ouachita Parish as the "Sterlington Police Officer David
Elahi Memorial Highway".
Designates a portion of La. Hwy. 557 from Pine Bluff Rd. to Proffer Rd. in West Monroe,
La. as the "Justin Levi Beard Memorial Highway".
Directs DOTD to erect and maintain signs of these designations, provided local or private
monies are received by the department equal to the department's actual costs for the material,
fabrication, mounting posts, and installation of each sign, not to exceed $550 per sign.
Effective Aug. 1, 2017.

Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Transportation,
Highways, and Public Works to the original bill
1. Change US 425 designation to "Trooper Bobby Smith 'Vision of Courage'
Memorial Highway", notwithstanding any other law to the contrary.
2. Change US 165 designation to "Sterlington Police Officer David Elahi
Memorial Highway".
3. Add that local or private monies are required to be received by the
department to fabricate and install the signs.
Senate Floor Amendments to engrossed bill
1. Provide that local or private funds received by DOTD to fabricate and install
the signs must be equal to the department's actual costs, not to exceed $550
per sign.
