1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 18:193(F), relative to inactive voters; to provide relative to voter
3 registration cancellation; to provide for notice to inactive voters; to provide for
4 publication of inactive voter; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 18:193(F) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง193. Challenge and cancellation of registration; notice; procedures

9	F. A list of names and addresses to whom address confirmation notices are
10 sent and whether or not each person responded to the confirmation notice shall be
11 maintained for a period of two years and shall be open to inspection and copying as
12 provided in R.S. 18:154. Ninety days prior to a regularly scheduled federal primary
13 election, the names and addresses of those persons on the inactive list shall be made
14 accessible on the official Internet website or portal of the Department of State
15 and notice of the listing with the official Internet website or portal shall be
16 published for one day in the official journal of the parish governing authority or in
17 a newspaper calculated to provide maximum notice in the parish.

2 Section 2.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
3 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
4 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
5 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
6 effective on the day following such approval.

Present law provides that a list of names and addresses to whom address confirmation
notices are sent and whether or not each person responded to the confirmation notice will
be maintained for a period of two years and will be open to inspection and copying as
provided by present law.
Present law provides that 90 days prior to a regularly scheduled federal primary election, the
names and addresses of those persons on the inactive list will be published for one day in the
official journal of the parish governing authority or in a newspaper calculated to provide
maximum notice in the parish. 
Proposed law provides that the Department of State will make the names and addresses of
the persons on the inactive list available on the official Internet website or portal of the
department.
Proposed law provides that notice of the listing on the official Internet website or portal will
be published in the official journal of the parish or the newspaper that will provide maximum
notice. 
Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
