2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 112 BY SENATORS LONG, ALARIO, ALLAIN, APPEL, BARROW, BISHOP, BOUDREAUX, CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HEWITT, JOHNS, LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH, MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PERRY, PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE AND REPRESENTATIVE JACKSON A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend and congratulate David Wayne Toms on being named to the 2017 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being named to the hall of fame; and WHEREAS, the 2017 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes David Wayne Toms; and WHEREAS, he was born on January 4, 1967, in Monroe, Louisiana, and established himself as an able golfer while playing on the team at Airline High School in Bossier City, Louisiana, where in 1984 he won the Junior World Golf Championship; and WHEREAS, David Toms continued to excel on the course while attending Louisiana State University, where he was a two-time first-team All-American, and after graduating, he finished T23 at the Professional Golfers Association Tour qualifying school to earn his first tour card for the 1992 season; and WHEREAS, he has completed his twenty-fourth season on the PGA Tour and has earned a stellar thirteen career victories, including the 2001 PGA Championship and the 2001 Compaq Classic, has had sixteen runner-up finishes while making 411 cuts in 611 career starts, made the 2002 World Cup, three U.S. Ryder Cup teams, was instrumental in helping the United States win the 2007 Presidents Cup, and has tied for fourth in the U.S. and British Opens; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 112 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the successful golfing career of David Wayne Toms has rightly earned him a place among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate David Wayne Toms on being named to the 2017 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class.
