LANDRY, MARCELLE, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, STOKES,
THOMAS AND WHITE 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Shubhneet Warar on being selected to receive a High School Women of
Excellence Award and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation
Scholarship.
WHEREAS, Shubhneet Warar is the eldest daughter of Manjit and Seema Warar and
has maintained a 4.8 weighted grade point average and straight A's throughout her years at
Caddo Parish Magnet High School in Shreveport, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, earning the highest score of five on three advanced placement exams,
she has received the AP Scholar with Honor distinction; and
WHEREAS, Shubhneet is the president of her mock trial team, has earned first place
regional victories the past two years, and has been awarded as a Best Witness and as a Best
Lawyer; and
WHEREAS, this year, her team won the state championship and will go on to
compete at the national level in Connecticut, and earlier this year, they placed fourth at the
National Empire Mock Trial Competition in Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Shubhneet also assisted in establishing a middle school mock trial camp
to encourage interest in the legal field; and
WHEREAS, while carrying out duties for National Honor Society, Student Council,
National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Olympiad, and the National
Society of High School Scholars, Shubhneet finds time to play volleyball and the bassoon;
and
WHEREAS, after writing a humorous poem called "Ode to the Platypus" to show the
value of an uncommon species, she won an Artbreak Literary award and was published in
Caddo Parish's Seedlings Magazine; and
WHEREAS, Shubhneet values giving back to her community and has been a

volunteer prosecuting attorney with Teen Court, a STEM proponent for SciPort and Camp
Invention summer camps, as well as a math tutor for her school's Homework Gang and the
Association for the Blind; and
WHEREAS, with more than three hundred service hours, she was named her school's
Prudential Spirit of Community Award winner, is the service coordinator for her Key Club,
and participated in a backpack drive to give kids in her community much needed school
supplies; and
WHEREAS, in the fall, Shubhneet will attend Baylor University with a double major
in mathematics and chemistry and plans to join the collegiate mock trial team; and
WHEREAS, after attending medical school, she hopes to pursue her dream of
becoming an orthopedics physician; and
WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics
of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are
committed to community service to better society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, for 2017, there are four categories for the Women of Excellence
Awards: College Women of Excellence, High School Women of Excellence, Louisiana Hero
of Excellence, and Nonprofit of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2017 Women of Excellence Awards are being
recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of
Excellence Awards & Scholarships Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, May 9, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Shubhneet has been named a recipient of a 2017 Women of Excellence
Award in the category of High School Women of Excellence and is also a recipient of a
Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship for her accomplishments
and personification of excellence in integrity, character, academics, leadership, and
community service; and
WHEREAS, Shubhneet merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for
her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is appropriate for
the Legislature of Louisiana to commend Shubhneet upon receipt of a 2017 Women of
Excellence Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation and a
Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Shubhneet Warar upon receipt of a 2017 Women of Excellence Award from the
Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of High School Women
of Excellence and a Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship; does
hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of
Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor
that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Shubhneet Warar.
