COMMENDATIONS. Commends Leo Casanave for over fifty years of service to the St.
Tammany Parish School System as a math and science teacher and counselor.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Leo Joseph Casanave for over fifty years of service to the St. Tammany Parish
3 School System as a math and science teacher and counselor.
4 WHEREAS, Leo Joseph Casanave has been a lifelong resident of Lacombe,
5 Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's commitment and loyalty to the parish are unmatched
7 and his impact on the lives of the residents of St. Tammany is unmeasurable; and
8 WHEREAS, for over fifty years he has been a highly effective and inspirational
9 teacher and counselor in the St. Tammany Parish School System; and
10 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's steadfast dedication to his students was demonstrated
11 in 2007, when after only three short years of retirement, he gladly accepted the school
12 system's request to return to work at St. Tammany Junior High School; and
13 WHEREAS, ten years later, he continues to daily guide students by his words and
14 actions; and
15 WHEREAS, for twenty-eight years, Mr. Casanave served as the Youth Coordinator
16 for the Jobs Training Program and helped over 6,000 residents gain employment; and,
17 WHEREAS, he worked as a manager of the St. Tammany Parish Credit Union for
18 over twenty-seven years; and

1 WHEREAS, due to his resolve to mentor children, Mr. Casanave helped establish
2 the Boys' and Girls' Club of Slidell and the Men of Our Town Civic and Social Club; and
3 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave still regularly volunteers at the Lacombe Recreation
4 Department and is a commissioner and the secretary for St. Tammany Fire District No. 3;
5 and
6 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave is in the senior choir at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic
7 Church, and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Southern University Alumni Association, and
8 the Knights of Columbus of Slidell; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave and his wife, Anjo Smith Casanave, will celebrate fifty
10 years of marriage on June 3rd; and
11 WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's many years of selfless service to the St. Tammany
12 Parish School System and the people of St. Tammany merits a special measure of
13 commendation.
14 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
15 commend and recognize Leo Joseph Casanave for his enduring legacy created from teaching
16 and counseling in the St. Tammany Parish School System for over fifty years and countless
17 hours of service to the community.
18 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
19 Leo Joseph Casanave.
