2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 91 BY SENATOR HEWITT A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Leo Joseph Casanave for over fifty years of service to the St. Tammany Parish School System as a math and science teacher and counselor. WHEREAS, Leo Joseph Casanave has been a lifelong resident of Lacombe, Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's commitment and loyalty to the parish are unmatched and his impact on the lives of the residents of St. Tammany is unmeasurable; and WHEREAS, for over fifty years he has been a highly effective and inspirational teacher and counselor in the St. Tammany Parish School System; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's steadfast dedication to his students was demonstrated in 2007, when after only three short years of retirement, he gladly accepted the school system's request to return to work at St. Tammany Junior High School; and WHEREAS, ten years later, he continues to daily guide students by his words and actions; and WHEREAS, for twenty-eight years, Mr. Casanave served as the Youth Coordinator for the Jobs Training Program and helped over 6,000 residents gain employment; and, WHEREAS, he worked as a manager of the St. Tammany Parish Credit Union for over twenty-seven years; and WHEREAS, due to his resolve to mentor children, Mr. Casanave helped establish the Boys' and Girls' Club of Slidell and the Men of Our Town Civic and Social Club; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave still regularly volunteers at the Lacombe Recreation Department and is a commissioner and the secretary for St. Tammany Fire District No. 3; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave is in the senior choir at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, and is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Southern University Alumni Association, and the Knights of Columbus of Slidell; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 91 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave and his wife, Anjo Smith Casanave, will celebrate fifty years of marriage on June 3rd; and WHEREAS, Mr. Casanave's many years of selfless service to the St. Tammany Parish School System and the people of St. Tammany merits a special measure of commendation. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and recognize Leo Joseph Casanave for his enduring legacy created from teaching and counseling in the St. Tammany Parish School System for over fifty years and countless hours of service to the community.
