2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 95 BY SENATOR PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATI VE JENKINS A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Mary Alice Rountree for her many years of exemplary public service to the parish of Caddo and for her continued commitment to the care of its elderly citizens and to congratulate her upon the occasion of her retirement from the Caddo Council on Aging. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes Mary Alice Rountree for the dedicated service she has provided to the Area Agency on Aging of Caddo Council on Aging, Inc. (CCOA), a nonprofit agency that has served the needs of seniors and their caregivers in Caddo Parish since 1972; and WHEREAS, Mary Alice Rountree has served for more than twenty-five years in the specialties of social work, marketing, and public affairs while developing programs for nonprofit organizations; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Rountree began her employment with the agency in July 1997, as director of Social Services and later was promoted to director of Outreach Services; then in 1999, she advanced to the position of executive director; and WHEREAS, Mary Alice Rountree has secured grants to promote outreach, nutrition, and transportation programs under the umbrella of the agency; and WHEREAS, during her tenure at the Caddo Council on Aging, Mary Alice Rountree has been influential in the acquisition of numerous funding resources, services, and programs that are beneficial to seniors; and WHEREAS, these programs include the continued development of Meals on Wheels nutrition services, in-home assistance services, ombudsman, legal services, and senior centers; and WHEREAS, CCOA also supports a thriving Foster Grandparent program that offers senior adults, aged fifty-five years and older, an opportunity to contribute to their community as mentors, tutors, and caregivers for children with special needs through a network of various local agencies; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 95 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mary Alice is best known for her "can do" attitude, and her motto is "if Caddo Council on Aging does not provide the service, we will direct you to an agency that does"; and WHEREAS, while serving on the council, Mrs. Rountree acts as an advocate for senior citizens to maintain their independence and quality of life while remaining in their home environment; and WHEREAS, her diligence has brought to fruition extensive improvements in the delivery of services affecting the health and welfare of an aging population with special emphasis on assistance to lower-income individuals; and WHEREAS, Mary Alice is married to Douglas Rountree and their union of forty-six years has been blessed with two children, Catherine and Miller; six grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends, all of whom she holds dear to her heart; and WHEREAS, as an enthusiastic pacesetter, Mary Alice Rountree exemplifies all the finest qualities of a proficient, parochial, community leader who continuously pursues the best interests of those she serves. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Mary Alice Rountree upon her years of public service and on the occasion of her retirement from the Caddo Council on Aging on July 7, 2017. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby wish every success for Mrs. Rountree in all her future endeavors.
