SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10

A RESOLUTION
To designate November 2017 as "School Psychologist Awareness Month".
WHEREAS, school psychologists have extensive training in assessment, progress
monitoring instruction, child development, and psychology; and
WHEREAS, school psychologists also have in-depth instruction in counseling, crisis
response, program evaluation, as well as data collection and analysis; and
WHEREAS, the training of a school psychologist specifically applies to work within
school settings, including general and special education environments; and
WHEREAS, school psychologists have extensive knowledge in school system
operations in addition to the legal ramifications of providing their expertise; and
WHEREAS, school psychologists assist in removing barriers to learning and are
critical players on the school team that ensures a quality and genuinely accessible education
for all students; and
WHEREAS, the services provided by school psychologists that lower barriers to
learning and effective teaching are central to the supportive educational process necessary
to prepare all students for academic success, healthy development, and responsible
citizenship.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby designate November 2017 as "School Psychologist Awareness Month".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
Louisiana School Psychological Association.
