2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 111 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of John M. Trahan Sr. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens of Louisiana learned of the death of John M. Trahan Sr. on May 3, 2017, at the age of seventy-three; and WHEREAS, John M. Trahan Sr. was a compassionate person filled with the milk of human kindness, a true gentleman, and genuine friend to all; and WHEREAS, with his death, Louisiana has lost one of its finest sons, a quintessential southern gentleman who loved his community, state, and nation; and WHEREAS, Mr. Trahan was a man admired by all whose lives he touched, who leaves behind a rich and unique legacy, and is greatly missed; and WHEREAS, upon his untimely death, the Lafayette community lost an irreplaceable individual who left an indelible mark upon the lives of all who knew and loved him and benefitted from his thoughtful and generous spirit; and WHEREAS, Mr. Trahan is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Lavern Trahan; four sons, Ceasar Trahan I, John M. Trahan Jr., Bryant Trahan I, and Alton Trahan Sr.; one daughter, Trudy Trahan; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather, three brothers, and one sister; and WHEREAS, Mr. Trahan left a substantial void in the Lafayette community and a sense of loss in the citizens whose lives he touched, and his memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all those who knew and loved this remarkable gentleman. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 111 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of John M. Trahan Sr., whose passing leaves a tear in the fabric of Lafayette and in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved this extraordinary man.
