2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 114 BY SENATOR CARTER A RESOLUTION To commend the Edna Karr High School girls outdoor track & field team on winning the 2017 Class 4A state championship and recognize Coach Tonya Allen for her achievements. WHEREAS, at the state meet, Rikianne Patterson placed second in the 100 meter dash and in the long jump, Taylor Harris placed first in the 400 meter dash and in the 800 meter run, Alacia Myles placed second in the high jump, and the 4x200 meter relay team and the 4x400 meter relay team each won their events; and WHEREAS, the team was coached by Tonya Allen, a 1991 graduate of Seton Academy in New Orleans, who attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of the women's track team graduating in 1997 and, in 2006, began at Edna Karr High School as the girls indoor and outdoor track and field coach, posting an eleven year record of nine District 10-4A championships, three regional championships, and three state titles; and WHEREAS, she also serves as the director of football operations and the girls athletic director; and WHEREAS, with the win at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, the Edna Karr High School girls outdoor track & field team secured its third consecutive state title. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Edna Karr High School girls outdoor track & field team on winning the 2017 Class 4A state championship and recognize Coach Tonya Allen for her achievements BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Mr. Harold Clay Jr., Head of School of Edna Karr High School.
