2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 155 BY SENATOR BOUDREAUX A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Peter Douglas Broussard. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the citizens and the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Peter Douglas Broussard, on May 20, 2017, at the age of sixty-eight in Carencro, LA; and WHEREAS, Peter Douglas Broussard, called "Pete", was a compassionate man known for his patience, humor, strength, and sincerity among his family, community, fellow church members, and friends; and WHEREAS, Pete's life journey started as a curious boy with an insatiable desire to learn, then led him to spend thirty-one years working for Exxon Mobil in North America as one of the first National Association of Corrosion Engineers - International Coating Inspector who was much admired for his project management skills and love of offshore travel; Pete often shared with others stories of the beauty of the places he worked, such as Grand Isle, Venice, Corpus Christi, and Canada; and WHEREAS, many were touched by Pete's infectious personality when they participated in his elaborate Halloween pranks, famous crawfish boils, hot dogs, hamburgers or barbecued cookouts which he performed for his family, the children his wife taught, church's youth, foreign exchange students, cheerleaders, and band members; and WHEREAS, Pete's generosity extended often to strangers who entered his home and became family, many eventually calling him a mentor or their adopted father; and WHEREAS, Peter Douglas Broussard will be deeply missed by the church family where he and his wife served as youth group leaders who enjoyed taking their members to the African-American Youth Catholic Congress where he served tirelessly helping to rebuild the church after a devastating fire in 2010; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 155 ENROLLED WHEREAS, he leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of forty years, Carole Dugas Broussard; a daughter, Terri Renee Williams; a son, Brent Paul Broussard, and a sister, Joycelyn Artis, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his parents, Doughty and Margaret Broussard; a sister, Nancy Broussard; and two brothers, Marshall and Kenneth Broussard; and WHEREAS, he will be greatly missed by many who will always remember his daily words of wisdom and inspirational thoughts such as his favorite: "Without faith, we are nothing. Prayer is the door, so smile, open your eyes, love and go on with life". THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences for the family and friends of Peter Douglas Broussard, whose passing has left a substantial void, yet numerous and joyful memories of this extraordinary man.
