SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 191

A RESOLUTION
To commend the town of Haughton, Louisiana, and the Haughton schools on the tremendous
growth in the area and in the area's schools.
WHEREAS, the town of Haughton is located in Bossier Parish along the
Highway 80, I-20 corridor; and
WHEREAS, Haughton has recently seen a developmental boom which has resulted
in tremendous student growth in the area's schools; and
WHEREAS, the community prides itself on retaining a small hometown feel, despite
the rapid growth; and
WHEREAS, Haughton is the home of the Buccaneers and includes Haughton High
School, Haughton Middle School, Princeton Elementary School, Platt Elementary School,
and T. L. Rodes Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, the schools' mission extends beyond the academics of the classroom and
also focuses on equipping students to live well-rounded lives and instilling the desire in them
to become effective communicators, lifelong learners, and productive, active citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Haughton schools make education a shared responsibility between
students, schools, homes, and community; and
WHEREAS, the town's and the schools' high standards of excellence and deep
commitment to community are a model for other areas of the state.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the town of Haughton, Louisiana, and the Haughton schools on the
tremendous growth in the area and in the area's schools.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
mayor of the town of Haughton and to the principals of Haughton High School, Haughton
Middle School, Princeton Elementary School, Platt Elementary School, and T. L. Rodes
Elementary School, respectively.
