SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206
BY SENATOR GATTI 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Haynesville Junior/Senior High School on its
achievements and accomplishments during the 2016-2017 school year.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Haynesville Junior/Senior High School on its achievements during the
3 2016-2017 school year.
4 WHEREAS, the students and faculty of Haynesville Junior/Senior High School in
5 Haynesville, Louisiana, brought many honors, academic, athletic, and extracurricular
6 activities to their school during the 2016-2017 school year; and
7 WHEREAS, student of the year selections involve all-around excellence in a
8 particular grade, and Kaely Jackson was named Claiborne Parish Elementary Student of the
9 Year, Noah Edmonds was named Haynesville Junior/Senior Eighth Grade Student of the
10 Year, and Tania DeLeon was named Claiborne Parish High School Student of the Year, all
11 extraordinary accomplishments; and 
12 WHEREAS, four of the school's junior high 4-H students competed on the state level
13 in archery, Hana Sanders, Dakoda Camp, Allie Gray, and Jackson Bailey; and
14 WHEREAS, several high school archery students placed at the state tournament:
15 Ashley Dodds placed second, Alyssa Dodds placed fourth, Ariel Daniel placed sixth, Alexis
16 Kennedy placed eighth, and Taylor Norman finished ninth; and
17 WHEREAS, Ethan Coker, a sophomore and 4-H student, won the 4-H records
18 contest and represented Haynesville at the national 4-H Congress, and he served on the

1 Louisiana 4-H shooting sports ambassadors board; and
2 WHEREAS, athletic team honors included a state championship for the girls' track
3 team in the Louisiana State High School Athletic Association Class 1-A meet, the boys' track
4 team earned a runner-up position in the state track meet, the football team earned a runner-up
5 position in Louisiana State High School Athletic Association Class 1-A postseason, the boys'
6 basketball team was a quarterfinalist in the state tournament, the girls' basketball team
7 participated in postseason play, the softball team also participated in postseason play, and
8 the baseball team participated in the postseason, reaching the regional competition; and
9 WHEREAS, the Haynesville Junior/Senior High School faculty also excelled as
10 Leann Gantt was named Claiborne Parish High School Teacher of the Year, and
11 Melanie Scruggs was honored as Haynesville Junior/Senior Middle School Teacher of the
12 Year; and
13 WHEREAS, the 2016-2017 academic year at Haynesville Junior/Senior High School
14 was a year of accomplishments of which both the student body and the faculty can be
15 most proud.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
17 does hereby commend Haynesville Junior/Senior High School on its achievements during
18 the 2016-2017 school year.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
20 William Kennedy, principal of Haynesville Junior/Senior High School in
21 Haynesville, Louisiana.
