SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 213

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
death of Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht.
WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the passing of Ethel Mae LeBleu
Precht, age seventy-nine, on June 6, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Ethel Precht, a lifelong resident of Cameron Parish, was born
September 25, 1937, in Big Lake, raised in Sweet Lake, Louisiana, and a 1955 graduate of
Grand Lake High School; and 
WHEREAS, during her younger years, she was an avid bowler and was a member
of a number of leagues throughout the years; she also enjoyed playing softball, granny
basketball, and more recently took up racquet ball with her husband and was also known to
drive a combine for the family farm; and 
WHEREAS, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht was a self-taught artist and had a stand-in roll
in "Little Chenier"; and 
WHEREAS, Ethel was also a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, the Order
of the Eastern Star, past member of the Handel's Messiah Choir, and was active with the
Council on Aging; and
WHEREAS, she was a breast cancer survivor and began the Ethel Precht Hope
Breast Cancer Foundation, which just hosted its 12th annual Walk for Hope; she also started
HOPE (Helping Others through Personal Experiences), where she visited with and helped
guide abused women; and 
WHEREAS, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht was a very respected woman in Southwest
Louisiana and was awarded Citizen of the Year for Lake Charles, the Citizen of the Year
Award for Louisiana, and had the honor of carrying the Olympic Torch in 1996; and
WHEREAS, she enjoyed traveling and spending time on the water and went on over
forty cruises; and

WHEREAS, Ethel Precht started life as a shy young lady, but having breast cancer
and surviving, changed her life forever and the impact she made on the community
throughout the years will be felt for many years to come; and 
WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Granger
LeBleu, and sister, Betty LeBleu LaBove; and 
WHEREAS, Mrs. Precht leaves a life legacy of her husband of sixty-one years,
Charles Precht Jr.; sons, Charles (Donna) Precht and Kelly (Corrie) Precht; eight
grandchildren, Kari Precht, Kourtney (Bobby) LaFargue, Ashton Precht, David
(Megan) Daigle, Brian (Tori) Daigle, Natalie (Corey) Leger, Adam (Alicia) Precht, and
Molly Precht; and great-grandchildren, Keighan Precht, Brady LaFargue, Hunter Daigle,
Easton Daigle, Grayson Daigle, Luke Daigle, August Leger, Maren Leger, Blakely Precht,
and Darby Precht; and
WHEREAS, because of her numerous accomplishments, Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht's
passing has left a void in her community and in her state and has created a genuine sense of
profound sorrow in her friends and family; and
WHEREAS, the success of our state, the strength of our communities, and the overall
vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon women like Ethel Mae LeBleu
Precht.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Ethel Mae LeBleu
Precht, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her exceptional accomplishments and
singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor
that this wonderful woman will forever bring to her family, friends, community, and the state
of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
husband of Ethel Mae LeBleu Precht, Charles Precht Jr.
