SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 40
BY SENATORS JOHNS, ALARIO, ALLAIN, APPEL, BARROW, BISHOP,
BOUDREAUX, CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB,
CORTEZ, DONAHUE, ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HEWITT,
LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH,
MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PERRY,
PETERSON, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER,
THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
passing of Daniel Phillip Ieyoub.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sadness that we have learned of the passing of Daniel
Phillip Ieyoub on April 19, 2017, at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Phillip Ieyoub, a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was the son
of Phillip and Virginia Ieyoub and brother of former attorney general and current
commissioner of conservation Richard P. Ieyoub; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Ieyoub and his wife, Ursula, are the proud parents of six
children, Michael, Mark, David, Kristen, Timothy, and Jonathan, and nineteen
grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Ieyoub was a graduate of Lake Charles High School, and a 1956
graduate of McNeese State University majoring in history and english, earned a master's
degree in administration and supervision from Louisiana State University, and received his
30+ from McNeese; and
WHEREAS, while a student at McNeese State University, Daniel's love of the arts
was evident as he participated in student productions of Brigadoon, The Student Prince, and
The Red Mill; and
WHEREAS, in 1957 Mr. Ieyoub began his teaching career in DeQuincy serving as
a classroom teacher at Central School, Pearl Watson, and Lake Charles High School from
1958 to 1971 until he became assistant principal at Lake Charles High School and then
principal of that school from 1980 to 1983; and

WHEREAS, from 1984 to 1991, Daniel was principal at St. Louis Catholic High
School in Lake Charles, and upon completion of his tenure there he became academic
advisor at McNeese State University from 1991 to 2008; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ieyoub was inducted into the St. Louis Catholic High School Hall
of Fame on March 24, 2011, as one who represented the principles of the gospel, dedication
to humanity, reputation within the community, and service to the school; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Ieyoub served the larger academic and arts community of Lake
Charles as a member and past president of the McNeese State University Alumni
Association, as past president of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Catholic School
Board, as a member of the Retired Teachers of Calcasieu Parish, as board member and
treasurer of the Louisiana College Academic Advisors Association, as a lifetime member of
the Cathedral Choir and former member of the Pastoral Council at the Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception, as a member of the board and president of the Artists Civic Theater
and Studio, as a board member of the Arts and Humanities Council, and president of the
Outriders (retired members of the McNeese faculty and staff); and
WHEREAS, a tireless advocate of the importance of education and the arts, Daniel
Ieyoub was also involved in the activities of the Salvation Army serving as a member of the
Salvation Army Board of Advisors and publicity chairman of their eighth annual Empty
Bowl fundraiser, "Soup, Soap and Salvation"; and
WHEREAS, he also served meals to the homeless and shut-ins, spearheaded
charitable fundraisers as Autism/Elvis, performed with the Liberty Belles at local nursing
homes, and volunteered at the Cathedral parish office; and
WHEREAS, Daniel was an extraordinary man, compassionate, committed, and
dedicated to his God, his family, and the community in which he lived; and
WHEREAS, a loving, devoted, and dedicated husband, committed father, cherished
grandfather, son, brother, relative, and friend, Daniel Ieyoub left an indelible mark upon his
community and the lives of all those who knew him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby express sincere condolences to the family of Daniel Phillip Ieyoub on the
occasion of his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Daniel Phillip Ieyoub.
