2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 48 BY SENATOR COLOMB A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the passing of Scott Anthony Brooks. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the legislature and the citizens of Louisiana have learned of the death of Scott Anthony Brooks, on January 6, 2017, at the age of forty-three; and WHEREAS, Scott Anthony Brooks was born in Church Point, Louisiana, on October 5, 1973, to Shirley and Leroy Brooks Sr; and WHEREAS, Scott Anthony Brooks, a native and lifelong resident of Church Point, for most of his life, was a self-employed contractor for their family business, Brooks Construction of Opelousas; and WHEREAS, Scott Anthony Brooks was a dedicated and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend in the true meaning of the word; and WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife, Shalangda Batiste Brooks; daughter, Shelby Anne Brooks; parents, Shirley and Leroy Brooks Sr. of Opelousas; two sisters, Yvette Brooks Tyler and husband, Todd Sr. of Church Point, and Tiffany Brooks Etienne and husband, Donald Sr. of Opelousas; brother, Leroy Brooks Jr. and wife Melba of Opelousas; his father-in-law, Hayward Batiste of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Patty Leday Batiste of Carencro; godparents Carol Singleton Citizen of Church Point and Wayne Singleton Sr. of Opelousas; six godchildren; a very special godson, Blake Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends; and WHEREAS, Scott Anthony Brooks was preceded in death by his brother, Jude T. Brooks; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Cinderella (Jordan) Singleton; and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Anna (Harmon) Brooks; and WHEREAS, the memory of Scott Anthony Brooks shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved him.
