2017 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 95 BY SENATOR CARTER A RESOLUTION To commend Coach Brice Brown on his many accomplishments and recognize the Edna Karr High School football team on winning the LHSAA District 4A 2016 State Championship. WHEREAS, Coach Brice Brown is a New Orleans native and resident of Algiers; and WHEREAS, Coach Brice is a proud alum of Edna Karr High School and a graduate of Grambling State University; and WHEREAS, after graduating in three years from Grambling State University, Coach Brown returned to Edna Karr High School to pursue a career in coaching; and WHEREAS, during his time at Edna Karr High School as offensive coordinator, Coach Brown led the Cougars offense to the 2012 State Championship; and WHEREAS, after serving as offensive coordinator for eight years, Coach Brown was named the head football coach in 2015, where he led the Cougars to the state championship in his first two seasons; and WHEREAS, as a mentor and leader, Coach Brown believes in putting God first and preparing young men on his team not only for football, but also for life; and WHEREAS, the Edna Karr High School football team played Neville High School in the 4A football state championship on December 14, 2016; and WHEREAS, the Edna Karr High School Cougars defeated the Neville High School Tigers thirty-four to twenty-one to become the 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA District 4A champions; and WHEREAS, Coach Brice Brown led the Edna Karr High School football team to victory as the team ended their season undefeated, having a record of eighteen to zero. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 95 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Coach Brice Brown on his many accomplishments and recognize the Edna Karr High School football team on winning the LHSAA District 4A 2016 State Championship.
