2018 First Extraordinary Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 6 BY SENATORS TARVER, BARROW, COLOMB AND THOMPSON A RESOLUTION To commend Southern University on the occasion of its seventy-fifth Annual State Livestock and Poultry Show held March 1 through March 3, 2018. WHEREAS, since 1943, Southern University has provided opportunities for youth throughout the state to gain valuable knowledge and skills in livestock judging, selection, and evaluation; and WHEREAS, in March, Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College celebrates its seventy-fifth Annual State Livestock and Poultry Show with exhibits and competitions at the Maurice A. Edmond Livestock Arena; and WHEREAS, during the event, judges will name state champions in various breeds of beef and dairy cattle, hogs, sheep, rabbits, and goats, and in the poultry categories of prize-winning chickens, geese, ducks, and turkeys; and WHEREAS, the competition will culminate on March 3rd with an awards presentation for each division of champion market animals in the show; winners will receive rosettes, ribbons, and silver platters and some will receive the coveted titles of "Grand Champion" or "Best in Show"; and WHEREAS, members of 4-H Clubs and Future Farmers of America (FFA) represent the majority of these young competitors who learn valuable lessons in leadership, character development, and entrepreneurship skills; and WHEREAS, Southern University Ag Center is to be commended for its promotion of agricultural sciences and for the continuation of this time-honored, farm family tradition; and WHEREAS, the Southern University Annual State Livestock and Poultry Show continues its strong legacy of providing excellent opportunities for youth in the state of Louisiana to breed and exhibit prize-winning animals. Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 6 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Southern University on the occasion of its seventy-fifth Annual State Livestock and Poultry Show.
