SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 10
BY SENATOR MORRELL AND REPRESENTATIVE LEGER 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the passing of an
exceptional public servant and friend, Clare Jupiter, former Orleans Parish Civil
District Court Judge.
WHEREAS, Clare Jupiter led an extraordinary and blessed life as a reporter,
attorney, public servant, wife, and mother; and
WHEREAS, she was born in Chicago, Illinois, but reared in New Orleans, Louisiana,
where she attended and graduated from Saint Joseph Academy; and
WHEREAS, she earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University and embarked
on her career, first as a reporter for the New Orleans States-Item where she earned a
reputation as passionate, principled, and scrupulous; and
WHEREAS, in 1978, she earned a law degree from Duke University and became a
respected attorney in the community, always demonstrating integrity and honor when
representing her clients, including the Orleans Parish School Board; and
WHEREAS, in 2011, she won the Division E seat on the Orleans Parish Civil District
Court and then won a second term in 2014; and
WHEREAS, as a jurist, she was known and respected for being fair, honest, and
deeply principled; and
WHEREAS, she leaves behind a loving husband and two children, and countless
other friends and colleagues who have been touched by her friendship and years of public
service.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
express sincere condolences upon the death of Clare Jupiter, former Orleans Parish Civil
District Court Judge.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Judge Clare Jupiter.
