SLS 182ES-94 ORIGINAL 2018 Second Extraordinary Session SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20 BY SENATOR MILLS COMMENDATIONS. Commends Episcopal School of Acadiana for winning the 2018 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B boys soccer state championship. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To commend the Episcopal School of Acadiana boys soccer team for winning the 2018 3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B state championship. 4 WHEREAS, Episcopal of Acadiana, referred to as "ESA" and located just outside 5 of Lafayette, Louisiana, was dominant in the game, as they were during the entire season, 6 in winning the state championship over the Northlake Christian Wolverines of Covington, 7 Louisiana, by a score of five to zero; and 8 WHEREAS, the Episcopal of Acadiana Falcons ended their season with twenty-three 9 wins, no losses, and one draw, tying St. Thomas Aquinas of Hammond, Louisiana, in 10 December, 2017, after which the Falcons outscored their final eight opponents by a 11 combined score of fifty-three to two, a dominating record by any measure; and 12 WHEREAS, in the championship game, three of the Falcons' goals were scored by 13 Parrish Anderson, a junior striker, bringing his season total to an exceptional seventy-one 14 and helping to bring ESA its first boys soccer state championship since 1990; and 15 WHEREAS, besides the goals scored by Parrish Anderson, senior Matthew Pisani 16 and junior Alex Malek each deposited one ball into the net, capping the offensive output for 17 the Falcons; and 18 WHEREAS, ESA Coach J. B. Brunet, unwilling to take the spotlight off his players, Page 1 of 3 SR NO. 20 SLS 182ES-94 ORIGINAL 1 stated, "We played some exceptional, exceptional soccer out here on this field. I hope the 2 fans enjoyed it, and credit to the players"; and 3 WHEREAS, speaking of both Parrish Anderson and the entire team, Coach Brunet 4 also observed: "Seventy-one goals this season is exceptional . . . it's not just him (Anderson); 5 It's a fantastic team"; and 6 WHEREAS, with its exceptional season record going into the playoffs, the Episcopal 7 Falcons were the top seed and Northlake was the third-seeded team; and 8 WHEREAS, the Falcons did not disappoint themselves, their coaches, or their fans 9 in putting on an extraordinary display of both teamwork and individual leadership and effort 10 in order the claim the title; and 11 WHEREAS, credit for the win includes the entire team as superb performances were 12 turned in by those playing all segments of the game; the strikers were exceptional, the keeper 13 was perfect, allowing not a single goal, the midfield play was outstanding, and the defenders 14 in the backfield turned in a stellar performance, as well; and 15 WHEREAS, playing on the team, by position were: strikers: Matthew Pisani, Ben 16 Fruge, Parrish Anderson, Landon Chrysler, Adam Sabbaghian, and Hayden Boagni; 17 midfielders: Hunter Ardizone, Alex Malek, Tommy Burns, Ethan Boagani, Addison Gibbs, 18 and Christian Herpin; defenders: Ellis Hernandez, Story Frantzen, Nathan Mouton, Will 19 Cowan, and Jude Miller; and goalkeepers: Adam Dakin and Jack Guidry; and 20 WHEREAS, assisting these players throughout the season were Head Coach Brunet, 21 assistant coaches Dallas Mouton and John Jacob Plumbar, and trainer Kaitlyn Davis; and 22 WHEREAS, with an entire season of extraordinary play and commitment to their 23 sport, the Episcopal of Acadiana boys soccer team capped their amazing season of play 24 without a loss and proudly brought the 2018 Louisiana High School Athletic Association 25 Class B boys soccer state championship to their school for the first time in nearly thirty 26 years. 27 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 28 does hereby commend the Episcopal School of Acadiana boys soccer team for ending their 29 undefeated season by winning the 2018 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 30 B boys soccer state championship.
