SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 20

A RESOLUTION
To commend the Episcopal School of Acadiana boys soccer team for winning the 2018
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B state championship.
WHEREAS, Episcopal of Acadiana, referred to as "ESA" and located just outside
of Lafayette, Louisiana, was dominant in the game, as they were during the entire season,
in winning the state championship over the Northlake Christian Wolverines of Covington,
Louisiana, by a score of five to zero; and
WHEREAS, the Episcopal of Acadiana Falcons ended their season with twenty-three
wins, no losses, and one draw, tying St. Thomas Aquinas of Hammond, Louisiana, in
December, 2017, after which the Falcons outscored their final eight opponents by a
combined score of fifty-three to two, a dominating record by any measure; and
WHEREAS, in the championship game, three of the Falcons' goals were scored by
Parrish Anderson, a junior striker, bringing his season total to an exceptional seventy-one
and helping to bring ESA its first boys soccer state championship since 1990; and
WHEREAS, besides the goals scored by Parrish Anderson, senior Matthew Pisani
and junior Alex Malek each deposited one ball into the net, capping the offensive output for
the Falcons; and
WHEREAS, ESA Coach J. B. Brunet, unwilling to take the spotlight off his players,
stated, "We played some exceptional, exceptional soccer out here on this field. I hope the
fans enjoyed it, and credit to the players"; and
WHEREAS, speaking of both Parrish Anderson and the entire team, Coach Brunet
also observed: "Seventy-one goals this season is exceptional . . . it's not just him (Anderson);
it's a fantastic team"; and
WHEREAS, with its exceptional season record going into the playoffs, the
Episcopal Falcons were the top seed and Northlake was the third-seeded team; and

WHEREAS, the Falcons did not disappoint themselves, their coaches, or their fans
in putting on an extraordinary display of both teamwork and individual leadership and effort
in order to claim the title; and
WHEREAS, credit for the win includes the entire team, as superb performances were
turned in by those playing all segments of the game; the strikers were exceptional; the keeper
was perfect, allowing not a single goal; the midfield play was outstanding; and the defenders
in the backfield turned in a stellar performance, as well; and
WHEREAS, playing on the team, by position were: strikers: Matthew Pisani,
Ben Fruge, Parrish Anderson, Landon Chrysler, Adam Sabbaghian, and Hayden Boagni;
midfielders: Hunter Ardizone, Alex Malek, Tommy Burns, Ethan Boagani, Addison Gibbs,
and Christian Herpin; defenders: Ellis Hernandez, Story Frantzen, Nathan Mouton,
Will Cowan, and Jude Miller; and goalkeepers: Adam Dakin and Jack Guidry; and 
WHEREAS, assisting these players throughout the season were Head Coach Brunet,
assistant coaches Dallas Mouton and John Jacob Plumbar, and trainer Kaitlyn Davis; and
WHEREAS, with an entire season of extraordinary play and commitment to their
sport, the Episcopal of Acadiana boys soccer team capped its amazing season of play
without a loss and proudly brought the 2018 Louisiana High School Athletic Association
Class B boys soccer state championship to its school for the first time in nearly thirty years. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Episcopal School of Acadiana boys soccer team for ending its
undefeated season by winning the 2018 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B
boys soccer state championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
J. B. Brunet, head boys soccer coach at Episcopal School of Acadiana.
