1 AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 15:825.2(A), relative to the appointment of special agents; to
3 provide relative to the authority of the secretary of the Department of Public Safety
4 and Corrections to appoint special agents; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 15:825.2(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง825.2. Special agents; appointment; carrying weapons
8 A. The secretary of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and
9 Corrections shall be authorized at his discretion to appoint special agents. These
10 agents shall be appointed from permanent status employees or full-time employees
11 who have attained the rank of sergeant or Probation and Parole Officer 1, and may
12 carry weapons exposed or concealed while in the performance of their duties in the
13 same manner as law enforcement officers.
