HOUSE BILL NO. 191

COMMERCIAL REGULATIONS:  Provides relative to the availability of certain seating
in restaurant establishments
1	AN ACT
2To enact Part V of Chapter 5-G of Title 40 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to be 
3 comprised of R.S. 40:1300.51, relative to seats with arms; to provide with respect to
4 seats with arms in restaurant establishments; and to provide for related matters.
5Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. Part V of Chapter 5-G of Title 40 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of
71950, comprised of R.S. 40:1300.51, is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
8 PART V.  SEATING IN FOOD SERVICE ESTABLISHMENTS
9 ยง1300.51.  Furnishing and maintaining seats with arms
10	A food service establishment as defined in R.S. 3:4733, dinner theater as
11 defined in R.S. 26:2, restaurant establishment as defined in R.S. 26:73, and restaurant
12 as defined in R.S. 40:1291.3 doing business in the state of Louisiana and providing
13 goods or services to the public shall ensure chairs with arms are available to patrons
14 within its respective establishment in the same proportion such establishment
15 provides high chairs.

Abstract:  Requires a food service establishment within the state of La. to provide chairs
with arms to patrons in the same proportion such establishment provides high chairs.
Proposed law requires a La. food service establishment, dinner theater, restaurant
establishment, and restaurant defined in present law, doing business in the state of La. and
providing goods or services to the public, to ensure chairs with arms are provided to patrons
in the same proportion such establishment provides high chairs.
