HB 728 Original	2018 Regular Session	Leger
Abstract: Requires the La. Department of Health to establish standards for substance use disorder
treatment in the Medicaid managed care program.
Proposed law provides legislative findings concerning treatment for substance use disorders.
Proposed law requires the La. Department of Health (LDH) to establish standards for substance use
disorder treatment in the Medicaid managed care program that are consistent with evidence-based
best practices. Requires that such standards include, without limitation, minimum length of stay
criteria for residential treatment.
Proposed law stipulates that in developing its contractual agreements with each of the state's
Medicaid managed care organizations, LDH shall ensure that each such agreement reflects the
substance use disorder treatment standards required by proposed law.
