ENROLLED 2018 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 225 BY REPRESENTATIVE SEABAUGH A RESOLUTION To commend posthumously John W. Bowman of Shreveport. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of John W. Bowman, a resident of Shreveport, at the age of seventy-six; and WHEREAS, John was born on November 12, 1941, in Bluefield, West Virginia, to James and Louise Bowman; and WHEREAS, after graduating from Bluefield High School in 1959, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bowman received a bachelor's degree in marketing from Northeast Louisiana State College (now known as the University of Louisiana at Monroe), where he served as vice president of Pi Sigma Epsilon, a national coed professional fraternity for students in the fields of sales, marketing, and management; and WHEREAS, upon graduation, he served as manager for South Central Bell Telephone Company; he later had several sales jobs before founding an insurance agency, The Human Resource Dept., Inc., where he worked for forty-five years; and WHEREAS, John founded the business in 1974; The Human Resource Dept., Inc., is now managed by John's son, Greg, and a team that is proud to carry on John's legacy of exceptional service through meaningful relationships; and WHEREAS, he was a prominent figure in the Shreveport business community; Mr. Bowman was a charter member of the Southern Hills Business Association; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 225 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Bowman was always active in Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport; he served on various committees and was a deacon and Sunday school teacher; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bowman is survived by his loving wife, Linda; son, Greg, and his wife, Pam; daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Darren; grandchildren, Caroline, Cooper, Catie Claire, and Harrison; brother, Kenneth, and his wife, Ginger; and sister, Connie, and her husband, Ray; and WHEREAS, John W. Bowman merits a special measure of posthumous commendation for the indelible mark he left on the community of Shreveport, whose citizens will long reap the benefits of his enduring legacy. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend posthumously John W. Bowman; does hereby recognize that he will forever be remembered, respected, and admired by the many citizens whose lives he touched; and does hereby extend sincere appreciation for the deep pride and honor that this truly remarkable gentleman brought to his family and friends, his community, and the state of Louisiana.
