ENROLLED 2018 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 43 BY REPRESENTATIVE MCFARLAND A RESOLUTION To recognize March 28, 2018, as National Federation of Independent Business/Louisiana Small Business Day at the state capitol and to commend the National Federation of Independent Business on its seventy-fifth anniversary. WHEREAS, both governmental and private entities alike herald small businesses as the backbone of the American economy; small businesses create a vast array of goods, services, and jobs throughout Louisiana and across the United States; and WHEREAS, federal law recognizes that encouraging and developing the capacity of small business is essential to the free market competition upon which the economic well- being and security of the nation depend; and WHEREAS, founded in 1943, the National Federation of Small Business was created to represent the interests of thousands of small businesses; in 1949, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) succeeded to the work of the National Federation of Small Business; and WHEREAS, today NFIB represents hundreds of thousands of small and independent businesses, including many in Louisiana, and has advanced small and independent business owners' ability to operate and grow their establishments; and WHEREAS, the small and independent businesses and the people of Louisiana have benefitted from the work of NFIB for three-quarters of a century. Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 43 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize Wednesday, March 28, 2018, as National Federation of Independent Business/Louisiana Small Business Day at the state capitol and does hereby commend the National Federation of Independent Business on its seventy-fifth anniversary. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Dawn Starns, the state director of the Louisiana Small Business Association.
