ENROLLED 2018 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 8 BY REPRESENTATIVES AMEDEE, MAGEE, AND ZERINGUE A RESOLUTION To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Irvin Robert "Bobby" Boudreaux. WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives have learned of the death of Irvin Robert Boudreaux on February 19, 2018, at the age of eighty-six; and WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux was a native and resident of Houma; his first job out of high school was working as an office clerk at the courthouse; thereafter, he honorably served in the U.S. Air Force in Seoul, South Korea; and WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux worked in the clerk's office from the time he returned home in 1950 until he was elected clerk of court in 1963; he served as the clerk of court of Terrebonne Parish for fifty years; and WHEREAS, in the twelve terms he served, Mr. Boudreaux faced opposition only three times and never sought any other public office; he retired in 2012, making him the second longest serving clerk of court in Louisiana history; and WHEREAS, "Bobby" Boudreaux received a multitude of community service awards and commendations throughout his career, including honors from the parish president, state legislature, governor's office, and state supreme court; he was a recipient of the Elton Darsey Lifetime Achievement Award from the Terrebonne Parish Bar Association and received an honorary badge from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office upon his retirement; and WHEREAS, "Bobby" had a well-developed sense of humor; his wit and charm served him outside of court as he was often asked to emcee local events; and Page 1 of 2 HR NO. 8 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux was a member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in his yard, and playing cards with his family and friends; and WHEREAS, Mr. Boudreaux had a love for service that was eclipsed only by his love for his family; and WHEREAS, "Bobby" is survived by his loving wife, Rosadell "Rose" Percle Boudreaux; children, Kathy Boudreaux, Suzanne Gautier, and her husband Jack, Barry Boudreaux, and his wife Kathy, and Kenny Boudreaux, and his wife Lydia; grandchildren, Chad Michael Parr, and his wife Nicole, Ross Boudreaux, and his wife Debbie, and Blake Boudreaux; and great-grandchildren, Austin Parr, Kate Parr, Jack Boudreaux, and Mary Boudreaux; and WHEREAS, although the death of Irvin Robert Boudreaux has left a tremendous void in his community and in the judicial system that he served so long and so well, his legacy shall forever live in the hearts and minds of all the citizens whose lives he touched. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Irvin Robert "Bobby" Boudreaux; does hereby recognize and record for posterity the accomplishments and contributions of Mr. Boudreaux, an exemplary public servant, to the city of Houma, to Terrebonne Parish, and to our state and nation; and does hereby pay tribute to Irvin Boudreaux for the generous and effective way in which he dedicated his intelligence and his energy to justice.
