DIGEST SB 104 Reengrossed 2018 Regular Session Allain Present law provides for the licensing and regulation of marine products. Present law defines "marine product" as a new or used watercraft, boat, marine motor, and a boat or watercraft trailer. Present law retains present law and excludes from the definition a new or used watercraft or boat adapted to be powered only by the occupant's energy. Proposed law excludes from the definition a watercraft designed for use primarily for commercial or governmental purposes. Effective August 1, 2018. (Amends R.S. 32:1252(27)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate Committee Amendments Proposed by Senate Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and International Affairs to the original bill 1. Excludes from the definition of marine products a watercraft designed for use primarily for commercial or governmental purposes and provides that such watercraft shall not be subject to the regulations of the Motor Vehicle Commission.
