1 AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 40:1007(E)(8), relative to access to prescription monitoring information; to
3 provide for access by certain Louisiana Department of Health epidemiologists; and
4 to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1. R.S. 40:1007(E)(8) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
7 ยง1007. Access to prescription monitoring information and audit trail information

9 E. The following persons may access prescription monitoring information at
10 no cost and in the same or similar manner, and for the same or similar purposes, as
11 those persons are authorized to access similar protected health information under
12 federal and state law and regulation:

14 (8) An epidemiologist with the Louisiana Department of Health for the
15 purpose of assisting the board in analyzing prescription monitoring information
16 in order to conduct public health evaluations to support public policy and
17 education pursuant to an agreement with the board.
