WEAPONS.  Provides relative to the renewal of concealed handgun permits. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 40:1379.3(A)(1), relative to concealed handgun permits; to
3 provide with respect to the renewal of concealed handgun permits; to provide relative
4 to a "no change" option upon the renewal of concealed handgun permits; and to
5 provide for related matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 40:1379.3(A)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 
8 ยง1379.3. Statewide permits for concealed handguns; application procedures;
9	definitions
10	A.(1)(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
11 deputy secretary of public safety services of the Department of Public Safety and
12 Corrections shall issue a concealed handgun permit to any Louisiana resident who
13 qualifies for a permit under the provisions of this Section and may promulgate rules
14 and adopt regulations regarding concealed handgun permits in accordance with the
15 Administrative Procedure Act. The permit shall contain a permit number, expiration
16 date, photograph, and the name, address, and date of birth of the permittee.
17	(b) Upon expiration of the concealed handgun permit, if the information

1 required on the application has not changed, the permittee shall be allowed the
2 option to indicate "No change." for the renewal of concealed handgun permits
3 authorized pursuant to this Section.

Present law provides that notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the
deputy secretary of public safety services of the Department of Public Safety and
Corrections shall issue a concealed handgun permit to any La. resident who qualifies for a
permit under the provisions of present law and may promulgate rules and adopt regulations
regarding concealed handgun permits in accordance with the APA.
Present law provides that the permit shall contain a permit number, expiration date,
photograph, and the name, address, and date of birth of the permittee.
Proposed law provides that upon expiration of the concealed handgun permit, if the
information required on the application has not changed, the permittee shall be allowed the
option to indicate "No change." for the renewal of the concealed handgun permits authorized
pursuant to present law.
