SENATE BILL NO. 553

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.  Provides relative to the brewing and sale of alcoholic
beverages.  (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 26:307, relative to alcoholic beverages; to authorize the brewing and sale of
3 beverages of low alcoholic content by the same person; and to provide for related
4 matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 26:307 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 
7 ยง307.  Brewing and sale of alcoholic beverages by same person
8	A.  Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, any person may
9 manufacture and sell at retail a beverage of low alcoholic content provided the
10 same person is the manufacturer or brewer of the beverage of low alcoholic
11 content and the owner of the establishment at which the beverage is sold at
12 retail.  This retail establishment may sell the beverage of low alcoholic content
13 to the exclusion of any other beverages of low alcoholic content.
14	B.  The process and ingredients used in the brewing of the beverage shall
15 be considered a trade secret.

Proposed law provides that any person may manufacture and sell at retail a beverage of low
alcoholic content provided the same person is the manufacturer or brewer of the beverage
of low alcoholic content and the owner of the establishment at which the beverage is sold
at retail.  Provides that the retail establishment may sell the beverage of low alcoholic
content to the exclusion of any other beverages of low alcoholic content.
Proposed law provides that the process and ingredients used in the brewing of the beverage
shall be considered a trade secret.
