SENATE BILL NO. 66

MENTAL HEALTH.  Provides relative to admission to treatment facility for mental illness
pursuant to emergency certificate. (8/1/18)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact the introductory paragraph of R.S. 28:53(G)(8), relative to emergency
3 certificates; to provide for admission procedures to treatment facilities; to provide
4 for applicability to all parishes except St. Tammany; and to provide for related
5 matters.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  The introductory paragraph of R.S. 28:53(G)(8) is hereby amended and
8 reenacted to read as follows:
9 ยง53. Admission by emergency certificate; extension; payment for services rendered

13	(8) As it relates to the all other parishes of East Baton Rouge, Jefferson,
14 Orleans, and Ouachita, the following shall apply:

Present law provides for certain emergency certificate admission procedures for the parishes
of East Baton Rouge, Jefferson, Orleans, and Ouachita. 
Proposed law retains present law and makes it applicable to all parishes except St.
Tammany. 
Effective August 1, 2018.
