SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 111

HODGES, MACK, POPE AND SCHEXNAYDER 
A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend the Doyle High School girls softball team upon winning the 2018 Louisiana
High School Athletic Association Class 2A state championship.
WHEREAS, the Doyle High School girls softball team completed a sensational 2018
season, earning the title of Class 2A state champions; and 
WHEREAS, Doyle's victory over Mangham on Saturday, April 28, 2018, marked the
Lady Tigers' first championship win in program history; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers completed their season with an overall record of 24-11;
and
WHEREAS, in the exciting and decisive final inning of the championship game, with
a score tied 2-2, shortstop Gabby Lucia doubled down the left field line to lead off and went
to third base on Kaitlyn Savant's ground-out to shortstop, and with the game on the line,
Elise Jones lifted a fly ball to short right field; Ms. Lucia tagged up and raced home, scoring
the game's final run; and
WHEREAS, the distinguished performance of the entire Doyle Tigers softball team
throughout the regular season and the postseason has earned them the Class 2A
championship title; and
WHEREAS, each of the following Lady Tigers performed at the highest level of
excellence throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital
contributions to the winning effort: Madison Diaville, Caitlinn Fruge, Haley Hamel, Elise
Jones, Rylee Lambert, Alyssa Lovell, Rebecca Lovett, Gabrielle Lucia, Laci Martin, Kylie
Merrell, Alissa Ragas, Kaitlyn Savant, Gracie Taylor, Sydney Taylor, and Olivia Welda as
well as Marley Olivier who was named the outstanding player of the title game; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Tigers' accomplishments during this unforgettable season
would not have been possible without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Amanda
Decell; coaches Lance Dawcey and Haley Mckigney; Statistician Garrett Mcmorris; and all
of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's softball program;
and 
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the Lady
Tigers, and all Doyle High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Doyle High School girls softball team upon winning the 2018 Louisiana High
School Athletic Association Class 2A state championship and does hereby extend best
wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine softball program as they
celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Head Coach Amanda Decell.
