SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 22

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Kingston Elementary School on being named the 2017
elementary world archery champions.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend the Kingston Elementary School archery team on winning the elementary
3 school world archery championship.
4 WHEREAS, teams competed among thousands of archers from across the United
5 States at the 2017 National Archery in the Schools Program World Tournament in Orlando,
6 Florida, on July 21-22, 2017; and
7 WHEREAS, three thousand seven hundred sixty-four students from two hundred
8 seventy-six schools from around the world participated in the bullseye competition, and one
9 thousand two hundred seventy archers from one hundred forty-five schools participated in
10 the 3D portion of the tournament; and
11 WHEREAS, competing in the bullseye, Kingston Elementary School finished first
12 out of forty teams after scoring an impressive three thousand two hundred ninety-two points,
13 thereby earning the team its first world championship; and
14 WHEREAS, in the 3D competition, they placed third in their division; and
15 WHEREAS, in the bullseye, Kingston Elementary School had several standouts with
16 Weston Wray placing second out of five hundred five males with a score of two hundred
17 ninety-one, and in the 3D competition, Thomas Allen placing second out of one hundred
18 sixty-three elementary boys with a score of two hundred eighty-eight; and

1 WHEREAS, Cassidy Walters claimed second place out of one hundred sixty
2 elementary girls with a score of two hundred eighty-four; and
3 WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the Kingston Elementary School
4 archery team could not have been achieved without the guidance and skills of the coaches
5 and all of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the archery program;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, the distinguished team performance of the entire Kingston Elementary
8 School archery team has earned them the 2017 National Archery in the Schools Program
9 World Tournament championship.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11 commend and congratulate the Kingston Elementary School archery team on its
12 much-deserved title and third place finish in the 3D competition which were earned through
13 teamwork, determination, and dedication to the sport of archery.
14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
15 principal of Kingston Elementary School.
