A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
To commend Tayler Brishaune Pierre upon her receipt of a 2018 Women of Excellence
Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category
of College Women of Excellence and upon being a recipient of a Louisiana
Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.
WHEREAS, Tayler Brishaune Pierre is the daughter of Rev. Kendall and Sabrina
Pierre and is from Ama, Louisiana, a small town on the west bank of St. Charles Parish; and
WHEREAS, she studies mass communication with a concentration in public relations
and minors in business administration and African and African-American studies at
Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Tayler's passion for education, faith, and service are the impetus for her
collegiate studies and involvement in extracurricular activities; and
WHEREAS, she has maintained a 4.1 grade point average and has been on the
President's Honor Roll; and
WHEREAS, Tayler is an LSU Summer Scholar and President's Millennial Scholar
and also serves as a resident assistant in Miller Hall and is a student worker for the LSU
Sports Information Department; and
WHEREAS, she serves as the music chair for the Student Activities Board, public
relations officer for The Impact Movement, diversity ambassador for the Office of Diversity,
a team leader for Springfest, and a peer mentor and assistant for the Summer Scholars
Program; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being involved in the LSU community, Tayler serves the
surrounding community of Baton Rouge through volunteer work at the Carver Branch of the
East Baton Rouge Libraries and participation in the Geaux Big Baton Rouge day of service;

and
WHEREAS, she traveled to Detroit, Michigan, last spring on an inner-city mission
trip and most recently became involved with Connections For Life (CFL), a transitioning
program for previously incarcerated women, and during the summer of 2018, Tayler will be
traveling to South Africa on a mission trip; and
WHEREAS, Tayler is a TOPS Scholar, the recipient of the A.P. Tureaud Sr. Black
Alumni Chapter Scholarship, the Dr. Gerald and Gayle Foret University College Award, and
the Black Faculty and Staff Caucus Award; and
WHEREAS, the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation created the
Women of Excellence Awards to recognize and honor extraordinary women of excellence
across the state for their outstanding achievements and contributions; and
WHEREAS, recipients of the Women of Excellence Awards exhibit characteristics
of integrity and professionalism, personify excellence in their area of specialty, and are
committed to community service to better society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, for 2018, there are two categories for the Women of Excellence
Awards: College Women of Excellence and High School Women of Excellence; and
WHEREAS, the recipients of the 2018 Women of Excellence Awards are being
recognized at the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation's Women of
Excellence Awards & Scholarships Ceremony and Reception on Tuesday, April 24, 2018;
and
WHEREAS, Tayler has been named a recipient of a 2018 Women of Excellence
Award in the category of College Women of Excellence and is also a recipient of a
Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship for her accomplishments
and personification of excellence in integrity, character, academics, leadership, and
community service; and
WHEREAS, Tayler merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for her
dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments, and it is appropriate for the
Legislature of Louisiana to commend Tayler upon receipt of a 2018 Women of Excellence
Award from the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation and a Louisiana
Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend Tayler Brishaune Pierre upon receipt of a 2018 Women of Excellence Award from
the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation in the category of College Women
of Excellence and the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship; does
hereby recognize and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of
Louisiana; and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor
that she brings to her community and the state of Louisiana.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Tayler Brishaune Pierre.
