APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT: Appropriates funds for payment of the judgment
against the State of Louisiana, DOTD, in "Jean Boudreaux and the Victims of the
Flood of April 6, 1983, on the Tangipahoa River v. State of La."
1 AN ACT
2To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2019-
3 2020 to be used to pay the final judgment in the suit entitled "Jean Boudreaux and
4 the Victims of the Flood on April 6, 1983 on the Tangipahoa River v. State of
5 Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, et al"; to provide for
6 interest; to provide for court costs; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. The sum of Ninety-One Million Eight Hundred Twenty-Four Thousand
9Seven Hundred Twenty and 79/100 ($91,824,720.79) Dollars, plus legal interest from April
106, 1984, until paid, is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana
11for Fiscal Year 2019-2020, which shall be payable to plaintiffs through Hancock Bank, as
12escrow agent, into escrow account number 1097000229 for payment of the judgment
13rendered in the class action suit entitled "Jean Boudreaux and the Victims of the Flood on
14April 6, 1983 on the Tangipahoa River v. State of Louisiana Department of Transportation
15and Development, et al", bearing Number 2004-0985 on the docket of the Twenty-First
16Judicial District Court, parish of Tangipahoa, state of Louisiana, which appropriation is to
17be made only after there is a signed agreement of judgment between the class and the state.
18 Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have
19been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.

1 Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2019; if vetoed by the governor
2and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,
32019, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later.
