R.S. 37:155(A)(introductory paragraph) and (B)(introductory paragraph) 8are hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 9 ยง155. Exemptions 10 A. The provisions of this Chapter, except Except as provided in this Section, 11 requiring the provisions of this Chapter which require persons to be registered and 12 licensed and forbidding which forbid the practice of architecture by unlicensed 13 persons shall not apply to: 14 * * * 15 B. Present law provides that no person shall practice architecture in this state unless he has secured a certificate of registration and license from the board pursuant to present law governing the registration and licensing of architects. Proposed law retains present law. Present law provides a list of exemptions from licensure. Proposed law retains present law. Present law provides that the following are exempt from the architecture licensing and registration requirements in present law: (1)Officers and employees of the U.S. in the execution of their official duties in the practice of architecture for the federal government. (2)Civil engineers licensed pursuant to engineering licensing statutes in present law, if the engineer does not use the designation of "architect". (3)Registered architects of other states when associated with a registered and licensed Louisiana architect. (4)Designers for single family residences, buildings or projects for personal use, renovations of a certain cost and scale, buildings under certain gross floor area limitations, or certain additions. (5)Routine maintenance projects under a certain cost. Present law prohibits exempt persons from performing certain acts. Proposed law removes civil engineers from the list of exemptions to the architect licensing and registration law and otherwise retains present law.
