PHYSICAL THERAPISTS: Provides relative to the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board
1 AN ACT
2To enact R.S. 37:2405(B)(15), relative to the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board; to provide
3 for the powers, duties, and limitations of the board; to provide for the collection of
4 a core set of data elements; to provide for the creation of a healthcare workforce
5 database; to provide for agreements the board may enter into with private or public
6 entities to maintain such database; and to provide for related matters.
7Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
8 Section 1. R.S. 37:2405(B)(15) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
9 ยง2405. Powers and duties of the board; limitation

11 B. The board may:

13 (15) Determine and collect, at the time of new licensure and licensure
14 renewal, a core set of data elements deemed necessary for the purpose of workforce
15 planning. The data elements shall be used to create and maintain a healthcare
16 workforce database. The board may enter into agreements with a private or public
17 entity to establish and maintain the database, perform data analysis, and prepare
18 reports concerning the physical therapy workforce. The board shall promulgate rules
19 to perform duties pursuant to this Paragraph.

Abstract: Adds authority to the La. Physical Therapy Board.
Present law provides for the powers, duties, and limitations of the La. Physical Therapy
Board (the board).
Proposed law adds to the powers of the board by authorizing the board to determine and
collect, at the time of new licensure or licensure renewal, a core set of data deemed
necessary for workforce planning.
Proposed law provides that the data elements shall be used to create and maintain a
healthcare workforce database.
Proposed law authorizes the board to enter into agreements with private or public entities
to establish and maintain the database.
Proposed law requires the board to promulgate rules to perform duties pursuant to proposed
law.
